Climate Action Group Launches
Posted on 15/11/2019Over the past week, many will have seen posters around the school titled '11 years left'… but until what? The United Nations has warned that we only have 11 years to prevent irreversible global damage due to our changing climate. The climate crisis that currently faces us is an environmental, social and economic catastrophe, one that will affect us all. That is why we, the students of SJL, have formed a 'Climate Action Group' aimed at raising awareness, both within school as well as the wider community. As young people, we have the biggest stake in our future and it is important that people understand the urgency of our global situation.
Students are invited to join us for our Friday break-time meetings to make our voices heard - after all, it's our future! The Climate Action Group has already begun looking at how we can introduce more sustainable systems within our school. If you have any ideas please come along and share them!
