Young Enterprise

In Year 12 of the Sixth Form we offer the Young Enterprise scheme where the students are provided with the opportunity to set up their own business. Young Enterprise is designed to give students an insight into how a successful business operates. Young Enterprise is open to all interested students in Year 12 who work in teams with friends, sharing out the roles of the company between them. Then, with a spark of inspiration, the product or service of the company is decided.

With a little initial investment the company is up and rolling, before you know it you are earning money. All the students who take part learn invaluable life skills in many different areas, from balancing the books to launching a successful marketing campaign. Usually at the end of the Sixth Form the company is closed and after the accounts are prepared, tax and VAT are paid to Young Enterprise and the remainder of the profit is distributed by way of a dividend to the shareholders.

We are lucky to have a local business advisor Andrew Marr who gives up much of his time to come and help and assist the groups.

The students also have the option of entering the Young Enterprise exam during the year which we have had a 100% pass rate each year with a high proportion of the students achieving either credit and or distinction.

Miss Dunne, Head of Business and Economics is the Link Teacher at the school responsible for Young Enterprise.
