Higher Apprenticeship Evening

Following its launch in 2017, our Parents’ Information Evening regarding Higher and Degree Level Apprenticeships as a real alternative pathway to University, has now become an annual event which takes place in March.

Higher Apprenticeships especially Degree Apprenticeships offer our students the opportunity of employment whilst gaining a degree all without incurring students fees or taking a loan.  These Apprenticeship Schemes are available across a wide range of business sectors from Banking & Finance through to Digital Industries, Chartered Surveying and Aerospace and Nuclear Power.  Already a steady stream of our Students are taking part in these schemes through Barclays Bank and KPMG. Charlotte Summer Bolton has graduated with her degree through KPMG, whilst also having had the benefit of attaining real world work experience to supplement her studies. Charlotte has now become a fully qualified Chartered Accountant and has been promoted within KPMG.  James Langley graduated with British Airways (formley with Monarch Airlines) in aeronautical engineering and has now progressed within the industry.

We are run this event ahead of the Y12 Careers Fair, to provide more information about the quality and scope of these Higher Apprenticeships, as well as the chance to speak directly to just a sample of the employers who deliver these programmes.  Then on Careers Day, our students will be able to approach the 80+ organisations that will be represented with more knowledge regarding the range of choices they may wish to make enquiries of.

The evening includes a formal presentation by Anna Morrison, an eminent expert in the field of Apprenticeships who works with both employers and training providers, followed by time to approach the employers to ask more specific questions.  In 2022 the following employers were represented:

AECOM
AON
Computacenter
Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office
Foxley Kingham Accountants
Hertfordshire County Council
Hill
MBDA
