Support and guidance
The transition from Year 11 into Year 12 might seem like a huge leap, but with all the support and help from the Sixth Form Team, everybody adapts really quickly. Subject Teachers also go the extra mile to nurture potential and talent. During that stressful time of applying to university, teachers and tutors are there to help with the difficult decisions. We are very proud that SJL Sixth Form students are extremely successful in their transition from Year 13 into Higher Education with the vast majority of students gaining a place at their first choice university.
Each student is allocated to a Tutor Group and your Tutor will see you regularly to discuss your progress both formally and informally. Sixth Form Tutors are the first point of contact between parents and the school. Progress reports are issued towards the end of the Autumn Term and again before Easter. A full Parents' evening is held towards the start of the Spring Term and parents will be contacted at other times if there are issues to be discussed. The Head and Deputy Heads of Sixth Form are available most mornings from 8.00am for meetings with parents if you need to make an appointment.
