History Workshop

Posted on 20/01/2023

Last week, I took part in a history workshop about medicine in the trenches during World War One. It was very informative, engaging and fun. We had an expert called Bill, who knew everything about World War One and always managed to keep us wanting to know more. We also had the opportunity to look at and even touch some real artefacts from WW1, such as medals, diaries and even a toothbrush. We even got to try on uniform and see first-hand how hard it must have been for soldiers to run while carrying all this equipment and heavy uniform, when most of them were half my size. Looking back on this experience, it was very useful and when it comes to class work, essays and my GCSEs, I can remember all the facts we were taught, be able to give more contextual knowledge and apply myself in situations. It will definitely be one of my highlights as an SJL Historian.

Daniel - Year 10
