SJL Prize Giving, March 2022
Posted on 29/03/2022Prize Giving 2022 was an evening of celebration for students, staff and families with awards given to students for outstanding achievement by subject and year group, and staff recognised as Leaders of Learning and with Long Service Awards. Congratulations to all those receiving awards.
Ms Robins opened the ceremony, her 20th Prize Giving and 17th as headteacher, by congratulating students for their hard work and resilience shown over the last two years. During her first speech in 2006, Ms Robins exclaimed "Joining Sir John Lawes School can change the world!" and now as she addressed the audience during the prize giving ceremony for her final time as headteacher with pride "we are delighted to announce new developments... enhancing expertise further, following our ethos of education for a changing world."

Many thanks go to Professor Helen Margolis MBE, guest speaker for this prestigious event.
Helen Margolis addressed the students via the wonders of technology. Helen is the Head of Science for Time and Frequency and a National Physical Laboratory Fellow in Optical Frequency Standards and Metrology. She spoke of her time studying at University of Oxford, encouraged by her Head of Sixth Form to be the first student from her school to apply "The world into which you are emerging is an unpredictable one. The world is full of possibilities, you will thrive so long as you seize the opportunities."
