Year 9 students were thrilled to be back performing live in their music showcase. The students worked hard and took pride producing and arranging this year's showcase.

"The Year 9 Music Showcase was a night to remember and, for the first performance of the year, I would say it went surprisingly smoothly. The acts ranged from trombone concertos to murder mystery themes, instruments of all shapes and sizes and genres from folk to 80s pop. The night started and finished with our amazing Year 9 ensembles playing ‘The Final Countdown’ conducted by Rebecca and ‘Just the Two of Us/ Careless Whisper’ medley sung by the extremely talented Elliot and KJ, with a nostalgic sax solo from Olly.

Recently in Year 9 Music we have worked on Protest Songs, four of which were showcased on the night. Fighting for climate change was boy band Act Now and protestors The Grettas; for an end to police brutality were The Police (ironically); and The Suffragettes about the right of women to feel safe. We created our own songs independently, we chose a topic we individually felt passionate about and then added a music video.
